Important PHES Information
Transportation Pick-Up/Drop-Off
If you drop your child off at school or pick them up, please use the parking lot on the east side of the school. You can also park at the Johnson Lane Park and walk your child across the street to the school using the cross walk. Thank you for following these guidelines and respecting the signs that have been posted in an effort to keep all of our students, staff, and parents safe.
Students do not have supervision in the morning until 8:40 a.m. , so please do not drop them off before that time. At the end of the day, every effort is made to deliver messages from parents to students, but be aware that any messages left or received after 2:30 p.m. may not make it to your student before dismissal.
Visitors, Volunteers, and Picking Up Children
For everyone’s safety, it is important that we know who everyone is in the building. All visitors and volunteers must sign in at the office and must sign out when leaving! In case of an emergency, this is our way of knowing if you are still on campus. In addition, if you wish to volunteer at the school, you must complete a School District Volunteer packet for review and approval.
Parent Portal & Parent Computer Kiosk
One of the ways to stay current on your child’s progress is through the use of our Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Here you can email a teacher, view real-time attendance, and view your child’s assignments and grades. A letter was sent home in peechees or given to you at back to school night with the information needed for you to establish your parent portal. To access your parent portal through Infinite Campus, go to http://dcsd.k12.nv.us under Parents Quick Links. Click on “Infinite Campus Parent Portal”.
90 Minute Late Start Day Schedule
The following days are district-wide mandated staff training/meetings:
September 12, October 10, December 12, January 16, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 8
School will start 90 minutes later at 10:20 am. Student can be dropped off on the playground and supervision will begin at 10:10 am. There will be no supervision prior to 10:10 am.
Attendance & Punctuality
If your child is absent for any reason, please call the office by 8:30 am the morning of the absence. Unverified absences will be considered truancies.
All students arriving at school after the first bell must report to the office for a tardy slip.
A letter will be sent to you if your child has more than five absences, and a meeting with an administrator or district truant officer may be required.
