School History
Pinon Hills Elementary school was established and opened its doors July 1996! The home of the Mighty Mustangs opened as a Kindergarten through 6th grade elementary school, with a population of 450 students who were anxious to start a new year and new chapter in the Carson Valley! Nancy Bryant was the school’s first principal, and since then PHES has had two other principals, including the current principal, Mr. Jason Reid, who began his journey at PHES in 2012. In the fall of 2016, we were fortunate to have Mr. Kade Baligad join the team as PHES’s new Vice Principal! Since PHES opened its doors, there have been several changes to the school such as a new construction addition which added the entire D Hall wing in 2011. Also, in 2015 6th graders moved to the middle school, making PHES a kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school. Despite the few changes over the years, there are still 6 of the original staff members, and PHES continues to be one of the strongest schools in the district with amazing families, students, and staff!
